SmileStudent's Profiles


This are student who we are currently supporting in paying for their school fees. 

1.Anne Wambui 14
Anne comes from Gachocho village in Kigumo constituency. She is an only child who currently lives with her aged grandmother. Anne applied for bursary sponsorship in 2010 but didn’t qualify. Desperate, she turned to the area chief for assistance. The area chief then sort to help her and got Sports for Change contacts through a friend. 

Anne is in now form 4 at Ngararia girl’s high school.  Her favorite subject is English, favorite food, chicken & chips and her hobbies are playing the piano and reading novels. Though shy, she wants to be an air hostess.


 

2.Christine Wanjiru 14

 
Christine comes from Ndiara village in Kigumo constituency. She has parents, two brothers and one sister. Her parents own a small piece of land where they live. They work as casual laborers at the nearby tea farms to feed their children. Christine is in form four at Ruchu girls Secondary school. Her favorite subject is Geography and her dream is to be a surgeon. Her favorite meal is Chapati and stew. 


 

3.Julius Muchiri 15

 
Julius comes from Ndiara village in Kigumo constituency. He has two brothers and one sister but both his parents are deceased. He lives with their uncle who takes care of his younger siblings. Julius is in form four at Chania boy’s high school. His favorite subject is Chemistry. His dream is to become an electrical engineer and his favorite food is rice and stew. 


 

4. Beth Wairimu 17

Beth comes from Karinga village in Kigumo constituency. She has 3 brothers and 2 sisters and is a partial orphan. Her mother died when she was just 3 years old and she was brought up by her grandmother. In 2009, Beth passed well and was admitted at Githunguri secondary school but the school fees were too high for her dad to afford.  She then had to leave the school and join a day school near her village. Her favorite food is chicken and chips.


 

 

5.Carol Wanjiru 16


Carol is from Gachocho village. She has 2 brothers and is a partial orphan. Her father passed away when she was 10 years. Her mother is unemployed, she depends on casual labor that she does in their neighborhood. Carol recently sat for the 2012 Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) and has hopes of pursuing civil engineering once she has her exam results. Favorite food is chapati and stew.

 
6.Asha Muhamed 13

Asha Muhamed is a young girl who is ambitious and very hardworking, she is the second born in a family of two, her elder brother is in form two. She lives with her single mother who is HIV positive and unemployed due to her health status; she is too weak to do any work.

Asha is in Class Seven at Gacio Junior Academy. She is a consistent average performer having scored a B- in her last exam. She loves sports and her favorite game is volleyball.


 

 

7.Aziza Moraa 13

Aziza is a young girl who is an orphan. Her mother died in 2001 of typhoid and her maternal grandmother started taking care of her and her other siblings. She was found in the streets and Teule Kenya intervened to care for her since her grandmother was no longer able to.

Aziza is a sweet young girl who loves being around people. She gets along well with everybody and her kind nature compliments her personality. She is hardworking and loves to help her juniors. She loves football and cooking.

 


 

8.Jane Kasyoka 14 
Jane is an orphan and in class 8. Her only surviving relative is an aunt living in Dandora, Nairobi, under extreme poor living conditions. Jane's aunt is the sole bread winner in the family and thus is not able to take care of her. Jane is a bright student and was then referred to Teule Kenya for assistance. In 2011, she won the Kibo Slopes Academy's Best Overall Female Student award. She loves to run, play all sports and read all kinds of books, especially novels. She is hard working, does her chores with joy, and is a very obedient girl. She supports all her sisters in their dormitory and has been a class perfect as well as dining hall prefect.
